A new programmer to AHM and IP1’s. I’m trying to get the IP1 shift feature to select the configured input/zone as shown in the Xpoint route and then use the main rotatry part of the IP1 to select that volume and adjust it - so it acts as an additive mixer where you select the source that you want to control then adjust the volume on it.
Xpoint input select option gives me inputs that have not been configured into the XPoint route and not enough inputs to select all that I need (it only gives 20 sequential inputs, and no zone input) - I cannot seem to make anything work that behaves the way I need it within the simulation tab.
For example the first IP1 that I would like to configure has stereo inputs 1/2, 41/42 and zone 19 — three items to adjust/mix volumes for zone 1 - but I cannot seem to get only these three items selected
Is there something i’m missing, or is there a workaround to make this happen?
is this a missing feature in the controller configuration - surely at some point it would make sense to remote control the items already configured in the XPoint routing without having to do additional steps?
The best way to achieve this is using presets.
You can create presets with a really limited scope that only affect the programming of the IP1, and change the shift function to be a preset select. That way you can have as many options as you want, and each one can be completely distinct. The user sees the preset name, so bear that in mind when naming them.
This way, you can mix crosspoint levels and zone master levels into the same control, using colour and names to differentiate.
If required, the preset can also do something else, like trigger a source select for that source, so this is quite flexible.
If that doesn’t make sense, I’m happy to put together and upload a little demo file!
It contains a few audio sources, a source switcher and a single zone. You can make this more complex if you like, controlling specific sources to specific zones, control groups, and so on. You can still only have 20 items in the preset selector on the IP1 but that should be plenty, not least because technically you can create menus with multiple layers using this method.
