I spend quite a bit of my time helping venues of many ilks, re patch their systems after they have been got at by well meaning but not quite capable people… as it is only a software issue.. can we have a patch that will basically patch 1-1 like an old analogue desk. so that on a Sunday morning or Tuesday night when I’m on one job and get that panicking phone call I can give them a press these buttons to give local 1 in to channel 1 fader and then to L/R… so that they can use it in a most basic form.
At least you could already create such standard input patches and then save them in a library, and there are also fixed factory presets there, such as “Local” or “SLink”.
Maybe that could already be something to what you’re looking for.
that is a good suggestion… its getting them to pay for the visit and time etc etc etc
I guess this is another downside to the SQ only having enough storage space for one show file to be loaded at a time.
If the console had more onboard show file storage, it would be trivial to create (or load a default) show file with this 1 to 1 routing. Systems like the Avantis and DLive that allow for more onboard show file storage actually come with some “default” show files that cannot be modified. It makes it very easy to reset the board back to a default configuration.
Of course you can create this type of show file for the SQ as well, but the process of using a USB drive, etc to load a saved show file can be hard to walk someone through.
I see no problem in using scenes in this case.
2 locked scenes that recall basic patching and basic routing. Not more.
