Current setup is dLive C3500, CMD32, 2xDx168, a IP8, and multiple ME500 units. This system has been spectacular for a few years now. As part of its service in our campus Chapel, we have “pop-up” events and daily services that our student techs don’t always show up for. The IP8 is configured so that anyone can control the lectern and wireless microphones without any knowledge of the system. The problem is that they never remember which username and password to use on the Surface for the IP8 to work. Is there a way to have the system auto-login to a certain user when powered on? The trained technicians can log out and then log into the proper account when on site. So far, I haven’t figured out a way to do this.
It sounds like your IP8 is currently set up to “connect” to the Surface. This means the Surface must be in good working order for the IP8 to work. However you can set the IP8 unit so that it “connects” to the Mixrack instead. The Surface doesn’t even need to be turned on for the IP8 to work in this configuration. As long as the Mixrack is on, the IP8 should work as expected.
There is some functionality lost when connecting to the Mixrack vs the Surface, but I doubt it would affect your particular use case at all. Certainly using it for simple volume adjustment is going to work even if the IP8 is connected to the Mixrack.
The “connection” type is determined simply by which device (Surface or Mixrack) the IP8 device is set up under. Currently the IP8 is set up/configured under the “Surface” settings/menu. You can remove it from the Surface and set it up to work under the “Mixrack” settings/menu.
It does not matter how the IP8 is actually connected to the network. The connection type is determined by how the device is setup in the DLive settings. It has nothing to do with what physical device an IP device is plugged into.
Thank you! I made the change, and it’s working perfectly for us.
