Hey Biggsounds, please send through your settings when you can, it would be very handy. I am having trouble with my Dante recording. I am recording 32 channels to a quad core XP32bit desktop with reaper. I rebuilt the machine from scratch and did all the usual tweaks. I am going direct to Dante (no switch). I don’t get peaks of over 700 on the latency checker so I am reasonably confident that the PC is in good shape (it’s faster then my studio PC and I do twice as many tracks with that setup). The issue I am having is random clicks and pops on the all the channels. It doesn’t seems rythmical but I do notice a strange thing happening. Every 3 or 4 pops, two channel pop at exactly the same time. I have checked that I am recording in 48k 24bit and the iLive 32 is the master. I’m really happy with it (Dante) but I’m keen to get rid of the spikes. I may try to update the network drivers and see if that helps. Any clues anyone. Has everyone else got it working. It seems to have gone quiet on the topic.
Hey Wes, I’ll post my settings ASAP - I did a show last night with about 30 lines into Dante & again it performed faultlessly so I think I’ve been lucky to hit on the right settings from the get go… I’ve just purchased a second license for my other laptop so the test will be if my luck holds on the other computer!!!
Ok, I’ve reinstalled Dante Controller & Virtual Soundcard. Now Dante Controller sees the iDR Dante module. But, I’m still having clocking issues! My iDR48 is my master clock. My bit rate setting seem to be right in Dante Virtual SoundCard, Dante Controller, and my recording software. I.E-
48khz
24bit
4ms Latency
48x48 setting
EthernetPort w/1GB transfer rate.
Uni-body Macbook Pro w/ Solid State Drive, 2.4Ghz Dual Core, 8GB Ram, running Presonus StudioOne software.
But I’m still getting “Pops” every few seconds on almost every channel. I’ve reinstalled software 3 times. What am I missing here??? Somebody help me out. Thanks.
Try’d different recording software all configured at 48k 24bit with Dante selected as the ASIO-
Logic
Pro Tools 9
Presonus Studio One
Try’d installing the Dante card in an completely different iLive system, and repeating process on both computers (MAC & PC)-
iDR-16
iLive R-72
“Pops” still continue on just about every channel. Audinate assures me that it is not a clocking issue (I don’t see how it could be anyways). I’m pretty sure that I’ve just got a bad M-Dante Card. [ ] I’ll reply to this when a solution comes up. I want to document all this for anyone else’s future issues…What are forums for, right?

Um, I definitely switched ethernet cables before switching computers, ilive systems, harddrives, etc. The chances of 4, pre-built, ethernet cables (that I tested with a Cat5E tester) being bad is slim to none.

OK, then can you try with another card from an A&H rep…or meet with a rep that has a similar install?? I remember my first try with a M-MMo card was not successful and a replacement card worked fine…as the card is sold through A&H I would imagine they would somehow service it in any way they can, so if you haven’t already please submit a ticket to A&H service …also you might want to look in this thread to see if it addresses your issues…https://iliveforum.allen-heath.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1617

Spoke with A&H rep today. My new card should depart next week. I hope this fixed the issue. Someone who was at Infocomm told me that it may not work with a processor lower than a Quad Core. I could see this maybe being the case with 64x64 channels, but not for any channel count lower than that. Could someone confirm this rumor? Thanks Ray.

Hey folks, I’m just beginning to mix the first live recording I did with my Dante – this is the first thing I’ve looked at & I haven’t done much other than shuffle faders so far… pretty happy with the quality!
Nobody contacted me yet from American distributor AM&S.
So I called Fullcompass and was told that they are expecting a few Dante cards by the end of July. They said they have been expecting since March. Who knows what is going on.
I’d be starting to think about importing one - it’s bizarre that no-one in the states can sell you this card! Not sure what the European pricing is, but they retail in Australia for $2299, drop me an email if I can help you out from this side of the pond.
The m/s pair (sE Titans set to omni + fig was at the back of a pretty ordinary sounding hall, with about 300 people between the performers and mikes - the close mike was a single Rode NT1A, and there’s just a hint of violin & guitar DI… simple as it gets but it just worked!!! Bear in mind too, this was a live show recording so that sound from the room mikes was off the PA, not exactly an ideal situation (the single mike tune was actually an afterthought from the performers, they called me from the airport before they flew up and asked if we could do it), hence not using too much room!

There are two things to check in the clocking. You have already set the iDR-48 as the master clock, but did you set it to use the “external clock”? It was this last setting that got rid of the crackles for me.
