I’m thinking I could maybe run my entire mix out via USB to my iPad running a tape saturation plugin in e.g. loopy pro and back into the CQ18T via USB to main out. Has anyone here had any joy doing this? Am I barking up the wrong tree and should just save for a Strymon Deco V2?
Nop, that work just fine.
I use it for a VST ducking delay plugin inside looppy Pro alongside with STage traxx 3.

Sorry I misread your post.
My usage is to apply a Ducking Delay to a Mic input.
That kind of FX can be run in parallel mode, via a Bus in Loopy.
That bus is then routed back into the CQ via a pair of stereo channels.
There is no compound FX due to latency because the mixing btw dry and wet is not a problem.
For you usage, Tape saturation, it is more problematic because you 'll need the full wet signal only.
