My S3000 surface has been having an issue where the channel strips in Bank 2 start having random characters in the name section, changing rapidly. The faders in that section also move to random positions when the Bank2 page is changed. The only cure seems to be power off restart. Any ideas on cause. We are using V.2.02-rev.85310 firmware.

What I write here is based on having a C class surface open to replace fader boards and looking around while doing that. Both C class and S class surfaces use the same fader boards. I believe the LCD boards are different between the two surface classes, so there may be things that do not carry over.
The fader boards have only a power connection (to the DC/DC converter power board) and a USB connection (to the main processor motherboard). Because the data connection is independent between the fader and LCD boards, it seems unlikely to me that a failure in one of those would cause problems in the other. If both boards had some sort of failure, I would suspect a power related problem. More likely is that this is either a firmware problem or a hardware failure on the motherboard.
