Hello Community!
I‘ve got my cq20b like a week ago. Before that I used a SQ5 in the same manner and never got any problems.
When I tried the USB-B Interface yesterday with my laptop running Windows 11 I got Clicking & Skipping sound artefacts like every second or so. I already tried 48kHz and 96kHz streaming mode. I tried Reaper and Harrison LiveTrax as a DAW, I tried old Projects and a fresh recorded session. I tried multitrack and stereo mode but couldn’t get the noise to stop. Today i tried a re-install of the ASIO-Driver and a reset of the cq still no success.
Has anyone had similiar Problems?
You probably did all ready: higher buffer size in Asio driver ?
Unfortunately yes. Tried every available buffer size option. Problem stays the same. Also it doesn’t matter if it’s one track or more playing back.
I experienced similar problems in the past (also with other brand interfaces), as I remember problem solved with reinstall driver and/or adjusting buffer size.
Understand all worked fine with the SQ5 on the same laptop/W11. Are other drivers installed (for the SQ5 ?)
Not sure whether it’s possible for you to test on a other laptop / pc ? to check whether or not the problem is hardware related
Fyi, I have a CQ18t and a QU24, both working fine.
Whilst you referenced sample rate switching did you check bit rate. As another poster here reminded bit rate switching will give better bandwidth gains than sample rate itself. The CQ hardware only does 24bit as far as I can see does your interface?
Cheers
David
@dirkphc your comment gave me a clue in the right direction since using sq last time and installing cq drivers I also installed a driver called spacedesk. Uninstalled it. Now cq USB streaming works flawless in any configuration.
Problem is now solved. Thanks everybody, and special thanks to @dirkphc !
Good to hear your problem is solved
Enjoy this great mixing/recording device. I bought my CQ18t primarily to use as my mobile recording rig (with laptop/W11/DAW), but use it also in my home studio. Keep my QU24 in case I am going to miss the phisical moving faders
