Is it possible to link two SQ5 and SQ5+ consoles (to create an SQ7-like setup)?
The main goal is to have 32 motorized faders available.
It works via S-Link, but I’m already using that port to control an AR2412.
You can fit one of the consoles with an SLink card to give a second SLink connection to allow them to be connected (and clocked) together.
You’ll be passing a mixdown from a primary to a secondary mixer, though - each mixer will continue to be completely independent.
Yes, you won’t have an SQ-7, but two interconnected SQ-5’s. Please understand the difference.

I have try to connect the second SQ5 after the AR2412 but it doesn’t work ?
That will not work, as the expander port on the AR2412 only supports either an AR0804 or an AB168.
Only way is as MarkF wrote, an SLink card in the “master” console.
Exactly as Steine said - our mixers and stageboxes have a host/client relationship. Hopefulyl obviously, the mixer is the host, the stagebox is the client. You have preamp control over a stagebox in this arrangement.
You can’t have another mixer downstream of a stagebox because it can’t assume the role of a client.
When you connect two mixers via SLink, you have to tell one of them to clock to the other, i.e. you’re telling it to ‘behave’ as if it is a client, but the main difference is you get a lot more channels (128x128) and they are still completely independent devices. You don’t get preamp control over the local IO on the other mixer, for example.
It can be very useful and a very powerful tool to be able to use, but you need to be aware of the limitations and how it functions.
Somewhat contrary to the other opinions, I would assume that it should be possible to simulate at least the crucial bus structure of a larger console, thereby capturing a key element of its functionality.
Because, unless I’m mistaken, it should be able to send the mixes from the “slave console” to the (ideally identical) mixes on the “master console” via their respective EXT INs.
(Unfortunately, however, there doesn’t seem to be a way to select the mixes from both consoles simultaneously with a shared button - whatever that could be).
Regarding inputs: while the gain controls for all AR2412 inputs would be located on the master console, yet the input channels themselves could be - most important - distributed across both consoles.
And as for FX, there is actually an advantage here: you have a total of 20 FX engines at your disposal - though you do have to (or get to) distribute them cleverly.
