I know this has been posted and I created an account just to add one more post for feedback on this topic as I too am somewhat surprised/disappointed with the design choice.

It seems the only way I can shut the unit off is to unplug it or shut it off from the app. Consequently the only way to power it up again is to unplug and plug it back in which is an extremely poor engineering design choice.

This is such a good product otherwise. It’s like getting ready to go on a date, you’re feeling good, you’ve been working out, bought some fresh new clothes, having a greati hair day, then all of the sudden you look at yourself in the mirror right before heading out and you realize you have a giant pimple right in the middle of your forehead. And it’s one of those that will leave a red bump of you try to pop it.

To me, the CQ-20B seems designed as a stage box that sits somewhere on the stage, and by omitting a power switch, they effectively prevent an over-enthusiastic musician from accidentally kicking it off with foot.
Until A&H releases a new series that includes a switch, something like this might help you:

> **[Rockboard Power Ace Master IEC On/Off](https://www.thomann.co.uk/rockboard_power_ace_master_iec_on_off.htm)**
>
> IEC On/Off Main Switch Adapter Cable Suitable for pedalboard power supplies, rack systems and studio equipment, Max. 6 A at 250 V AC, max. 12 A at 125 V AC, Length: Approx. 30 cm, Weight: Approx. 90 g, Colour: Black

… even after puberty. 😉

Yes, it’s bothering to turn the device off by unplugging it. But I knew that before I purchased the QC20B and decided for me to swallow this bitter pill.

By the way, I suppose it was not an engineering choice but a marketing cost saving choice.

I think it was a design choice and to save money and space not having a switch. This is made to be portable and primarily to be used like a stage box. Not necessarily build for permanent setups. So being portable, most likely every time you set it up, is when you are using it and want it to be powered on.

I think it having a switch, in most use cases, becomes redundant. Whether you are setting this up on a table, on the stage floor, or preferably in a rack, you should be plugging this into a power conditioner or surge protector which will have a switch.
