I just bought a new CQ18T and have observed channel bleed on mic channels 3 and 10. Here’s what happened:
Performed factory reset on the unit (ver 1.2.2).
Plugged in mic to xlr input 3, then raised the gain to an appropriate setting.
Upon sound checking the mic, we observed that both channels 3 and 10 are flicking LEDs, as if there are two incoming signals. There are no other active inputs on the mixer aside from channel 3 mic.
Channel bleed can be verified further by muting the mic on channel 3 and raising the gain on channel 10, which gives an audible sound.
If we invert the process: input mic on channel 10 and observe channel 3, we also get the same channel bleed behavior.
I believe this is a factory defect and I should send this back to my dealer for warranty inspection?
I’m afraid you’re right.
It does indeed seem as if there’s a hardware problem in the analog part even before the A/D conversion, and only A&H will be able to help.
Of course not!
If that were the case, not only this forum would be overflowing with complaints.
A hardware problem like this should be an extremely rare occurrence.
Whew … and i thought maybe this was the first instance of this and then the landslide of topics would happen … so good to hear but sorry to hear someone is having troubles … thx again for the clarity … my bad john
I returned the unit last week to the dealer. I am awaiting their diagnosis to see if this is really a factory defect. Will update this thread on the results.
