We have a C3500 and CDM48 on the way and have also ordered a dante card so we can use our current Aviom System fed by Dante. If the Dante card is installed in the surface this will give us the direct outs to send to Aviom but will we also get access to the stage rack sockets on the Dante network or do we need a second Dante card for the stage rack?

An M-DANTE in the Surface will have access to all system inputs and outputs.

I also put the Dante card into the DM32 mixrack.
from the “Primary” output I go to a Ubiquiti POE network switch and from there to one of the two network ports of the DM32.

so I can send the signals to a recording computer in the mixrack and to a laptop on the FOH mixer (via the ACE connection and the network sockets on the console). This allows me to make a backup recording at FOH when the show is very important and well paid :wink:
I also use the switch to feed the WLAN antenna via POE and can integrate additional control computers, Audio-Technica 5000 radio receivers and loudspeaker controllers into the network if required.

60W is not too weak to run one IP8.
I use a Zyxel 70W and run 2 IP8s and two other “af” standard devices on it.

Just double checked.
The US-8 is not PoE+ 802.3at compliant. So you are correct. No IP8s on this one.
PoE+ needs 30W max per port, so I was mislead by the 60W. US-8 is PoE 802.3af compliant only (15W per port).

I use only one switch Aruba 2930 on FOH ( near DM32 bridge dante card to network1 and AP Aruba305 to network2 for wifi and redundancy).

When i connect IP8 to port POE (default), IP8 said its under powered. When i set port to 30W - answer was same. When i set to 35W, IP8 start, work fine (from statistics: Pwr reserved 30W, Pwr Draw 4,1W, Priority High).

I Use for FOH 1xCAT5e from DM32 to switch with 2x IP8 and 6x dante devices.

I can’t speak for the Ub switches, but the AP’s are a step above on reliability, scale and management. I have the Pro’s deployed across multiple office floors for the company I work with and they hands-down beat Cisco and others I have worked with.

because I was convinced by the price/performance ratio.
the devices are very cleanly processed and I like the system idea of being able to configure and monitor all devices via a single controller program.

of course you can also work with devices from other manufacturers. didn´t want to question that here.

Ok guys I have a follow up question to my original post. Here is an overview of my system that is on the way. C3500 with Dante card, CDM48 with GigaAce card, SQ5 for the studio linked via GigaAce.

We need to send a copy of all inputs to the SQ5 in the video studio for mix down of broadcast. Am I right in assuming that any Dante inputs such as our Shure ULXD will not be seen on the SQ5 since it is linked via GigaAce? I could certainly run the ULXD over XLR to the CDM48 but hoped to use Dante for that.

Along the same lines will any local inputs on the C3500 be seen on the SQ5 over GigaAce?

That will work just fine, you have several options:

  1. Use direct outs on the channels mapped to the GigaAce card. The broadcast feed will follow any input mapping changes that happen on the C3500.

  2. Map the desired channels - CDM, Dante, Surface - the the GigaAce card via the tie-line patches. You can have anything you want, from anywhere, routed anywhere. You can also mix this with #1 and use direct outs and some tie lines.

  3. Use “record send” from VSC to send the channel inputs to the broadcast board. This is a little more limited, but can be setup in 30 seconds to test the concept of sending.

Commonly misunderstood, the dLive has a fully meshed patch matrix, regardless of source/target, that lets you route anything anywhere on tie lines. Inputs and mixes have restrictions on pulling from each other (aux 9 → input 10 isn’t allowed yet?) but tie lines are free-for-all. You do need to be aware of some items like ME - if you pull from a channel/mix, you get the name - if you pull direct from an HA/card, no name.
