Digital insert via USB

Wish I didn’t have to sacrifice a channel for every input using off-board VSTs. It would be nice if I could use Waves on my laptop and return to the same channel via digital insert.

IMHO, if you are at the point where you’re using external plug-ins, you are a more advanced user than the intended market for CQ line. They’re entry level mixers!

Perhaps, but there are quite a few of us using them for interfaces because they sound so good. I’d also like this feature. I use a lot of VSTs in my live performance and it would be nice to have enough tracks for them and still not lose the hardware tracks.

Yes, this would be very useful. See also my suggestion under:

I use VST live for parallel FX with an IPAD, mostly reverb and delay.

I use the BT and STin channels for the return.

Works great.

Any digital insert would be awesome for other (non time based) FX.

If size and transport weren’t a factor I’d just get an SQ. But the CQ is the only digital mixer that will fit in my Pelican 1510 along with my other gear. I don’t think digital inserts are a huge ask.

Hello dear A&H team and colleagues,

I would rather dive a bit deeper here with something inspired by the Apollo and Volt integration in Luna 2.
Here is a post of mine I’ve share about such integration of audio devices like interfaces and mixers in the upcoming Nuendo 15 (point 4):

Such integration with all major DAWs may allow also the use of external plugins through the DAW mix console, or via the MixPad, if it’s going to allow the insertion of VST3/AU plugins.
Plus an option to save and export the computer, or the tablet of the Scenes…. would be amazing.

I wouldn’t call a mixer like CQ an entry level. Most commonly such a mixer serves in a more severe and odd conditions than the most advanced ones. In places where the sound setup is mostly mono and one needs to achieve a very good sound out of it.
Well, the CQs still miss the side-chain and the Dynamic EQ, something that was commented by many other users and me.
I hope they would really think about the integration with the major DAWs and the MixPad.
Of course here is the question how this could be controlled not only by wired, but also by wireless connection…
I don’t know how much memory and processing power CQ has, but additional storage could be an external HDD/SSD through USB-A, and/or SD Card. In case of a wireless connection dropout, the plugins should be loaded in the mixer.
In case the processing power doesn’t allow the internal usage of a third-party plugins, then we could use a remote desktop to an USB-B connected laptop.

Best regards,
Thurisaz

I’d hardly call the CQ an entry level mixer, compact yes but definately not entry level.
