I recently bought the DT20 dual mic pre to Dante interface. It works perfectly audio wise, but I ran into a DHCP issue. It will not accept an IP address from the router it’s plugged in. I tried two different networks to make sure and every time it self assigns a 169.254.x.x IP address.
I can manually enter a compatible address and it then works fine.
Dante Controller reports the firmware as up to date.
Is there a limitation in the firmware? Both networks I used the DT20 on were 10.x.x.x networks with 255.255.254.0 subnet mask.
I’ve just tested this here with a DT20 and a DHCP server set up to be 255.255.254.0 and 10. addresses and it worked OK.
What’s the firmware version you’re running on your DT20?
That’s the latest firmware, so it isn’t that.
I wonder if something is amiss in your network configuration - although I can’t be sure what.
If you try DHCP in a totally different subnet mask, does it work OK?
I’m at home right now so I plugged the DT-20 in my home wi-fi router’s Ethernet port and it served an IP to the DT-20 successfully. So at least we know it works on simple networks.
Earlier this week I had it on a jobsite which is equipped with Netgear AV switches and that’s where I had the problems with DHCP. My laptop got served the IP address with no issues, but the DT-20 was stuck at 169.254.x.x. I’ll have to get some more details from the person who configured the Netgears. I’ll get back to you either way. Thanks.
A 169.254.x.x address is self assigned anytime a device is set up to get a DHCP assigned IP address, but cannot communicate with the DHCP server (for whatever reason). The fact that your device self assigned this address tells me it wasn’t able to communicate with the DHCP service. That generally points to a larger network issue and not something wrong with the actual device.
