Dyn8 feature upgrades

Hi, I would really like to have the Dyn8 capabilities upgraded with things like:

  • BD2 mode with only one crossover point.
  • BDx expansion mode with both ‘classic’ downward expansion below given threshold and ‘modern’ upward expansion above the given threshold.
  • Attenuation limit in dB per band.
  • Selectable filter order per crossover point.

All of the above are specific to the BD3/4 module, but I would like to suggest a little modification to the behaviour of both modules in Dyn8.

The threshold and ratio controls in BD are of course working just fine, but the blue line in the metering window behaves in a really puzzling manner, as it changes its value while changing either. Same goes for the Dyn EQ4 where it feels awkward to use the gain and threshold dials as both seem to effect the filter gain setting.

I suggest the blue line in BD could be used to indicate the set attenuation limit, as threshold values and gain reduction can clearly be seen in the metering window already.
Regarding Dyn EQ4, I would rather have the filter gain stay at a constant value even when fiddling with the threshold setting.

You didn’t understand the nature of the dynamic EQ? The value is the maximum possible filter gain, the real value depends on the signal and the threshold.
It isn’t possible to have a fixed value in this case.

I don’t see the use for that.
It is critical to place a single crossover filter in the mid-frequency range.

The only thing I would like to see change is the visual representation of the curve in the dynamic eq. The gain setting should be the only thing that actually changes the curve. As soon as you touch the threshold, you no longer have any idea what the gain is set to. I can’t really see how the same line can represent both max gain and threshold. If you look at it in the app ‘mixing station’, you get that exact visualization. It makes a lot more sense.
