Received an email this evening with an invitation to a webinar demo-ing firmware V1.3 and the GLD Editor application: “GLD Editor lets you configure a GLD digital mixing system before a performance, check and edit guest engineers’ show files and even mix live from a laptop or tablet.” So it is on its way 😃 ---

Will the webinar have a link for viewing after the fact? The surest way to windup with nothing is to wait for everything. On the other hand, the 2nd mouse always gets the cheese. ---

On-line mode will definitely have its uses but it doesn’t look like the editor is going to be anywhere near as slick as the iPad app for walking the room and tweaking on a tablet. ---

Of course the real reason for the “Editor” is to edit in OFF LINE mode so we don’t have to setup the GLD on a table in the family room for us weekend warriors. Also my business partner does most of the GLD setup so far so my time on it is minimal. Now I can train/play on my laptop. iPad for on stage LIVE changes makes more sense anyways due to the portability aspects. Laptop at FOH for additional views (layer with MC mic and iPod) and/or teamwork during transitions might be a big plus. I am sure we will all come up with the best way to use the tools offered.
