I am currently running a surfaceless dLive, and I know these are not applicable to most dLive users.
That being said, these features would be amazingly useful if hosted in the mixrack :
Channel Libraries, Actions, and TalkBack.
(Talkback appears to have some functionality, but I can not find a way to remotely activate it, either with Custom Control, Mixpad or Bitfocus Companion. If I am missing something please let me know)
Depending on the abilities of the operator, we run a hybrid of Director, Custom Control and Mixing Station. Having some of these features available on the mixrack would would be a game changer for small to mid sized events.
Talkback should be possible with a soft button in director.
Yes, I can do it from Director. But I did not have director open unless I am configuring the system. Once everything is configured I save a scene and close Director. Events are generally run from Tablets and mobile devices.

Soft keys and actions need to be available rack side so MixingStation can use them

Soft keys and actions need some kind of control logic.
That is located in the surfaces. Director can act as a surface replacement.
It is an integral part of surfaceless systems.
This is defiantly me speaking in ignorance, so please be kind. But could they not do that processing on the rack side also? Is it physically missing hardware necessary?
“Missing” may or may not be a strong word, I’m not sure, but currently the MixRack is more or less just a giant signal processor, with the surface (or Director) having all the control logic. Assuming the hardware could be made to handle that functionality, adding it is likely far easier said than done.
