I’m so confused.
Is there a way to have the fx to an aux out not be tied to the channel LR level? I’ve tried every combination I can think of and with the input channel FX send set to post fader (for proper LR fx), the fx level to an aux bus (ie. monitor 1) is still controlled by the LR channel level, as well as the send and return for the fx to the aux. How to make them independant?
If you don’t want to FX level to change in the monitor mix when you make level changes to the input channels you will need to set up a dedicated pre fade FX just for the monitor mix.
That’s the goal: Post Fader means exactly that the fader in the Main LR mix should influence the value.
What is this: Low-Frequency FX?
In your block diagram you can see that not only your Input to FX Send Fader has a Pre/Post option (red), but also the FX Return to Aux Fader (green).
These are set to post by default.

As SQuser has pointed out, the block diagram is your friend when it comes to what is possible with the routing options. Having found ‘what’ you want to do, you then have to read the manual to determine ‘how’ to achieve what you want to do (i.e. which menus to use).
The block diagram is quite complex. There is a much simpler block diagram introduction on the A&H website.
