Gigabit repeater

Hi all.

Long story short, I need to extend my GigaAce with a Gigabit repeater/switch.

So far i have learned that it needs to be:

1/ Dedicated, no other networks can see the repeater.
2/ Stupid, as in unmanaged.
3/ Not Green, as in no energy-saving EEE certificates.
4/ This is totally do-able,and should be stable once it works.

That is all good.

But i have also learned that it there are no products that are guaranteed to work, since it depends on firmware versions inside the different switches.
So my question is…

Can anyone point me to a specific model that they know to have worked.

Since it is apparently a swing/miss exercise, I would like to start off on someone elses succes.

We have long cable runs through our building so we had to go with fiber. Once it’s all pulled we’ll have a GigaAce on CAT5 from a DM64 to a Whirlwind media converter that flips the CAT5 to fiber, then fiber through the building, then finally at FoH another Whirlwind which converts the fiber back to CAT5 to an s70000. I can’t remember where but I read the CAT5 extenders can be sketchy.
