GX4816 not connecting

Hello I have a connection issue. My SQ7 Does not want to play nice with my GX4816. It flat out refuses to connect some times, we have a 158ft run on cat6a superior essex with regular (not ethercon) connections on the end. We are a church, we toggle off our mixer, all speakers, but stage box lives under stage so we do not toggle it. We do have a switch ran to it but it does not help. Nothing consistent we do makes it connect 100% of the time. Sometimes we turn on system and all speakers and everything stage side runs fine, and sometimes it only works if you do a random mix of toggling power to stage box & connecting and disconnecting the ethernet cable(like 10 times plugged in/unplugged). On SQ7 firmware v1.5.11 r4356. Any ideas?

I can plug in the ethernet, see the slink icon in the top right, but in IO it will say dSnake under SLink. But when it works, it shows gigaACE/GX.

When it doesnt want to work all the logos show up, link light on back of console stays off, put all inputs show 0 gain and 0 signal input

Have you tried using shielded ethernet cable?

@vladniko

As @TIMOT says, ensure you’re using STP cable, but to rule out issues with cable it would be best to temporarily connect the SQ and GX4816 close together (i.e. with a short cable and both units next to each other).
The fact that you’re seeing ‘dSnake’ as the connection type suggests SLink is detecting a fast ethernet, rather than gigabit, connection - this could be down to cable, RJ45 sockets/connectors or an issue with the network hardware in one of the units.

If you believe it is a hardware issue, please contact your distributor (https://www.allen-heath.com/community/distributors/) who will be able to fully check over the unit/s and carry out any servicing or repair.

Thanks,
Keith.
