Whoo hoo looks like some neat new features! Been waiting for midi control direct in editor so that’s great news. Other good looking features are Fx speaker matrix processing, scene auto advance, TCP/IP external control, output socket polarity control, ipad …, compressor… Gotta go now
The readme file for version 1.8 says that you can only downgrade to firmware version 1.72 but I can’t seem to locate it. I’m happy to update but I’d prefer to have a backout plan before committing.
Wooo! Looking forward to giving the new software a go.
Meanwhile - is there any more detailed explanation someone can offer about that speaker matrix thang you’ve put together? Looks intriguing. What’s the idea behind it, and what applications will it be most useful, in your eyes?
Had a chance to play around with the speaker matrix at NAMM a bit and its awesome. Basically say goodbye to your processors.
You can now route 4in 8 out of the fx units, and the processor is a new effect. In fact here is a shot from my phone at NAMM.
Sorry for the blur. You can now set and adjust crossover points (multiple curves of course) create matrices, etc. Combined with the already present graphics and delays you have a full fledged processor on board.
Just for fun here is a shot of the iPad app. Cant see much I know but its there and awesome!
Sorry! Just didnt think about it. I have been so swamped lately this is the first time I have been hanging around the forums in awhile, and only because I saw the 1.8 update go live.
No - hold on to your processors - this speaker matrix has two channel two way crossover functions only and is more aimed at feeding multiple speaker setups such as having a stereo L/R mix feed a left/center/right /sub speaker cluster. So useful but not a full speaker processor replacement.
I’ve spent the evening playing around with Editor 1.8 & my Behringer BCR2000 rotary MIDI controller & I’ve now got it humming with 32 channels of levels and pans at easy access along with a single “focus” pre-amp gain pot for use when trimming channels… the only bummer so far (and I’m sure this is just me not having any idea what I’m doing with the MIDI side of things) is I can’t seem to make the iLive software “learn” push buttons on the behringer (only the rotary encoders); any ideas?
I have to say this is so much more than I expected from this release - I’d have been happy even with just the Dante & iPad support!!! Liking the new compressors etc (just more options, and I LOVE the parallel option on the compressor now - monster kick drum sounds here I come!).
i’m just don’t update my ilive when i see a new update i wait for some users to test it…
i don’t want to get stuck in a show…
so pelease i will wait for answers…

If you don’t want to update your hardware yet then just install Editor v1.8 on your computer and then have a play with the new features in offline mode.
Not in mine either - Macbookpro 10.6.5 However I loaded a show (made with a surface connected) that had one in the rack and it shows up - so I saved it as a user preset in the library and you can then load it into other fx slots. It’s a workaround - I think they forgot to include a speaker matrix Factory preset in Editor - on a mac anyway.
Speaker processor will do all the way to a 5 way system, not just a two way.
How? As I see it you can send up to 5 outputs + up to 2 sub feeds but the 5 outputs are just HP filtered only aren’t they? I don’t see how to frequency band limit them further to do mids/highs etc - other than using another FX Matrix unit to split further. This is because the only Low Pass Filters I can find are in the Sub path which has > two outputs. As I see it each unit is a two channel (or 2 + 1) input/two way split with the high pass outputs going to a matrix that feeds up to 5 outputs. So to do a stereo three way you will need two instances of the Fx Matrix - one to split out to subs, and another to do stereo mids/highs. And you still don’t have individual comps/limiters on each output so not all that good as a speaker processor replacement. PLEASE - correct me if I’m all wrong on this!!
Hallo, just installed the V1.8 update on my IDR-48 with my Mac Book Pro 10.5.8, I do not have a surface… now my 48V says hold and I can not use my Phantom Power, Please Help, I have shows coming up this saturday allready, when I am home tonight I will look some more maybe I just don’t see a switch or new function.
