Other digital mixers can route signal from an individual channel to mains as well as internal buses, independent from the aux sends. The internal buses are then able to be mixed back into the main mix. This is quite useful for drums when wanting to run drum bus compression in parallel with the normal drum mix. Any chance of getting buses on the CQ mixers?
I’ve just come to CQ-20B from a Mackie DL1608. I’m really enjoying the advanced nature of the unit, particularly the multitrack recording/playback from SD and USB functionality which sees the unit at home on my desk in the studio and on the stage with my band. Only problem is, it’s shy on a couple of features offered by older systems like my Mackie.
Even the Qu16 does not have groups, which is what you are describing. You need Qu24 or higher to obtain that function. So I doubt they will be included it on a mixer half the price
+1 on subgroups (even just a few).
Since it was mentioned, I’d also recommend adding them to the qu16. Being that the Qu16 iss older mixer there could be a lot more limits on space available for firmware updates vs a newer mixer like the cq. That reminds me i recall hearing QSC has said the reason why there arent features updates people have requested on touchmix 16 (goes back to at least a decade now) is not enough memory on board for significant firmware updates at this point.
In anycase, its very encouraging to see the updates in latest firmware updates from A&H CQ series. adding things some of us maybe expected initially (like dca groups and mute groups) and including custom layers, a super helpful feature. Although plenty of things i’d like to see updated/added to CQ mixers, it shows they are working towards making things significantly better based on input received. I’m certainly excited to hear about what may be coming in next firmware updates.
