Internal wifi improvements? (Cq18t)

I’ve been a systems tech at very reasonable high level for more than 40 years now, done thousands of shows, hundreds and hundreds of pro level fixed installs and am still working as an installer and tech consultant for major venues.
It is still my opinion that using Wi-Fi for show critical communication in a public space id immensely foolish.
It is a fantastic tool for set-up, programming, or secondary remote control of devices, and very useful for non-critical remote adjustment of systems during a show where the user is not performing critical adjustments.
The big issue is that it is easy to overwhelm the spectrum when thousands of people are in close proximity with all kinds of wireless transmitting devices. We have had instances of faulty electrical equipment and even faulty microwaves in the kitchens of venues wiping out the whole spectrum during performances.
Worse still there are many “Joker” types of people out there who think it will be funny to go and blast an RF spectrum blocker at a concert or show to see how much chaos they can cause.
We have had some massive industrial Wi-Fi systems with high power directional antenna systems wiped out with interference in large public gatherings.
It is irrespective of what make, model and cost of wi-fi enabled mixing unit you have they can ALL be wiped out very easily with many common situations.
I can go to many online stores and buy “drone jammer” units that would wipe out Wi-Fi in any venue I chose to point it at.
.
Think about it for a moment. It is a VERY FRAGILE interconnect system. Whatever the type or router you have.

thats what i do (venues 200 people upwards),i use it for “setup” f.o.h. monitors e.t.c. half hour before doors i switch it off.
during a show there is no reason to walk around with a tablet.

That may be true in the situations you find yourself in, but that is a false statement when considering every potential situation someone might find themselves in.

It’s a really big stretch to go from “I don’t need to use WiFi during a show” to saying, “There is no reason ANYONE should use WiFi during a show.”

indeed i was talking about my point of view/approach,small events ( up to 100 guests) i do use wifi and a tablet as i bring my cq mixer.
Did i write ANYONE should not use WiFi in my post?

You said about wifi…

You went on to say that…

If you meant to say that YOU don’t have a reason to walk around with a tablet during the show, then that is fine. But the way I read your comment was that you were inferring that no one has a reason to walk around with a table during the show.

well, sorry for the misunderstanding,it wasn’t ment like that…
