Will it be possible to connect QU to SQ or indeed another QU for split FoH/Monitor duties?
Yes - one of the mixers would need to be set to clock to the other over the SLink connection.
In the case of the old Qu, you can’t clock Qu to Qu - but with new Qu you can do this.

One advantage of the NEW QU’s over SQ’s is the ability to multi track record to SD card AND multi track record to computer simultaneously. This a big deal for me as i record live gigs for a band who makes youtube video’s on a regular basis. I do more post gig production than live production, and though my faithful Macbook air hasn’t failed to multitrack loads of gigs, i am always nervous if i get the dreaded Logic pro “core audio overload” and recording stops. Now that i think of this, this might swing me towards buying a QU6.
Note, that since firmware version 1.6, the SQ also supports simultaneous SQ-Drive and USB-B recording.

The tutorials I’ve been seeing, yes DCA spill is on the new Qu.
I heard that’s an either/or but not both simultaneously situation.
You’re probably confusing it with simultaneous recording to USB-A and SD card, which isn’t possible.
Mmm not sure you can on the QU’s. The list of soft key functions doesn’t include ‘Spill on Sel’ like the SQ’s do. Happy to be proven wrong as I would be very happy if it was able to do it!!!
Correct!! Spot on with that one! 
Perhaps the feature will be added at some point via a firmware update.
With the SQ we had to wait a long time for it too.

Interesting to know that history on the SQ thanks @SQuser ! I think I started gigging on the SQ’s after that was introduced so very lucky!!

I’m looking forward to getting my Qu-5 and stage box soon for our very small venue Church. Members here helped me decide it’ll be a great fit to replace and surpass by quite a lot the old Soundcraft Ui16 we’ve had 10 years. Since lightning killed it, replacement time.
