On the last 4 shows i did with the ipad (version one) there was this problem. On all these shows the ipad stopped, showing “not enough memory”. the mixpad app was the only one running.
restarting the ipad solved the problem but it is no fun. it happens almost always when setting up the custom screens. but can happen when doing mix SOF.
I really feel that it is a problem with memory allocation (bug like a memory overflow ) and not that there isn’t enough memory.
Every musician loves it when i stand next to them and make their mix so please A&H solve this problem.
Kind regards

Yes, the out of memory error is still an issue. IPad 2 with no other apps running. Closed app, turned iPad off, and restarted on two occasions within a two hour period.
At my last gig it disappeared twice on my idontpad2 16GB. I’ll use it again tonight for an unimportant gig. We will see how it will behave again. I only used it 4 times until now.
If it crashes I simply start and wait for everything to update again
One thing that annoys me is that the initial update rate on channels is too slow. And it doesn’t update unless you visit the channel. This has nothing to do my wi-fi setup. I’m very anal when I setup my wi-fi at a venue. I always scan environment and pick the best available wi-fi channel. No auto-selecting.
So to overcome, once the app is online, I have to visit/scroll everything at least once to make sure they received current information before doing anything. My Le1700 still sits and available in case of emergencies like app crashes. Unfortunately, it refused to update at all a few times and had to reboot idontpad2.
I don’t recall if anybody from A&H commented about MixPad for ANDROID platform. Almost every current/upcoming Android tablet hardware(RAM especially) is superior than idontpad2. So… Another 100bucks I guess if it is happening…
I also experienced app crashes while assigning channels in custom screen.
Any idea if there will be any update any soon for mixpad?
I don’t have a surface, I do everything from Le1700 and trying to shift to mixpad since last month as much as I can.
A tap-tempo button is a must.
If you have to deal with almost 64 channels(32 for house mix, 32 for monitor mixes) no matter how you design your customs and align channels, it is a pain in the butt to quickly get to certain channels.
We have to give credits to yamaha stagemix app for quickly accessing to those channel groups. But bigger credits to A&H for making such an advanced mixing app. I’m hoping they will realize Android platform as an important venue and develop android version of mixpad with more functions.
Try turning off the “multi-cast” setting on your iPad settings app. If you do not have a router that supports multi-cast, or a router that has no more than a few DHCP licenses on it, you dont need the multi-cast. This may solve your crashing issue.
I did not have any issues with memory on my new iPad2 but it was a little slow in responsiveness for my tastes. It was usable but, slow. Selecting a mix channel to adjust sends took me a while I had to tap it several times before I got access to the sends. It was nice being able to adjust all this under the stage while I was rewiring to confirm my wiring changes. My observations were its pretty usable for monitors once you get the mix selected. It was very useable for roving around FOH. The tap tempo might not be usable or even possible with the slow response. I would just set the tap in the scene if your just using the ipad and hope they play at the same tempo. I think I am gonna turn off metering to see if I can speed the app up some since the meters are not all that important to me(after the initial sound checks) in my use of it.
As A&H have realeased an ipad 2 caseiPad app then in my mind the iPad becomesApple Accessories part of the iLive family just like a surface or a laptop running editor. This forum seems iPad2 casesthe ideal place to discuss the pro’s & con’s of the iPad2 and its original for running the MixPad application.
Personally I haven’t made a decision yet on which one to purchase and hoping that as the iPad2 is realeased in the US earlier than in the UK some US users might be able to share their experiences…
If you don’t want to read about Apple gadgets then I suggest you steer clear of this thread.

iPad - sometime soon
if it’s got the ram to run MixPad and something like audiotools concurrently (and not drop wi-fi connectivity when you switch!) it’s going to be killer…
So what do you iPad2 owners think of using them outdoors? Any difference from the original? Usable in direct sunlight or do you need to be under a FOH tent or under a roof? I’m familiar with Tablets outside but never used an iPad. Thanks for any thoughts!
