Latency settings for SQ Dante

I use an SQ6 with SQ Dante and four DT168 boxes: all at 96K. There’s an 85-metre CAT6 network loom (primary & secondary) running to FOH. I currently have latency of all devices set at 2ms with no issues. I fancy dropping down to 1ms: what are everyone’s thoughts - anyone doing anything similar?

Are you ising a switch or daisy chaining?

With a switch 1ms is no issue, if youre daisy chaining 4 boxes it might be at the limit
You could look at the latency tab in dante controller after you change it lower and see if its stable. I recommend picking the setting thats one higher than the first stable setting.

Also note that setting is unidirectional and only applies to Rx flows on a device, but the flows negotiate the lowest common latency supported so dont forget to change both ends.

Hi Chris. Primary and secondary switches in each rack, apart from the last one: Cisco managed SG250s. So change them all within Dante Controller, yeah?

Yes

So just one switch on each primary/secondary?

The total number of sw hops is generally the limiting factor

SQ Dante direct to stage: 85 metres of CAT6. Then four racks, each with a DT168 in it. Three of the racks have a pair of switches (P & S), the final rack has no switch. Thanks.
