Me-1 control from surface or director

Recently purchased some Me-1’s to use with a dLive system. The Me-1’s are great however it would be helpful to edit the unit from the surface (like you can do with the Roland systems eg M400 and M5000).

Please add this feature in an update.

Can you explain further what you want to ‘edit’ from the dLive system directly.(I’m not familiar with the Roland). With certain connection configurations you can have the channel names dynamically change/match the respective channel names of the dLive.

Other than that, channel layout, stereo config, groupings, are set at the individual ME head level and not able to be changed via remote.

It’s kind of a double edged sword. The heads can be set up per each users preference which would really complicate a ‘remote’ config ability from the dLive surface. Yet if you were to be able to setup the heads from the master surface it would take away from the individual users ability to customize for their ease of use.

For example if a musician requires help with their me-1, it would be helpful to see a visual representation on the dLive’s screen of the status/state of the personal mixer, and be able to fix it from the surface.

If a musician had a channel soloed by accident and they’re unaware, you currently have to walk over to the unit to see what has happened.

Roland consoles will allow you to see and rectify the problem from the mixer.

Hopefully this feature will come to dLive in an update.

I agree with the request and think it could be very helpful. It would also have other uses like being able to program the ME devices “remotely.”

That being said, I just want to make sure you understand that this would be a pretty big undertaking. That’s because I don’t believe there is any software/API/mechanism for this to happen in the ME system currently. I believe the ME system is currently designed where each device is literally it’s own “world” and no data (outside of the incoming audio and basic channel names) is passed to the ME devices and I don’t believe the MEs send any data out from the ME500/ME1 units. If this is true, it would require basically a entire “rewrite” of the ME system architecture to support a two way API/communication protocol.

It certainly can be done on a technical level, but I really doubt A&H is planning on spending the amount of resources (which equates to money) on the ME system at this point.

Thanks for the response. I’m hopeful lol
