is there a way for the ilive editor to receive midi messages from the internal midi busses on a mac (though IAC bus)???

No - Don’t think so. This is something that has been requested (Direct Midi Access to Editor). You can only get Midi in/out via the mixrack or surface Midi Connections. Would be good if we could though!
