# Mix buttons: press and hold

**Feature request: Momentary Mix Select buttons**
Do you know that moment when you’re adjusting the faders for your main LR mix, only to realize after a few adjustments that one of the monitor mixes was still selected?
It happens to me more often than I’d like to admit. 😅
I think it would be great if the Mix and FX buttons could optionally be configured to work like the Talkback button, with two different behaviours:
- **Short press:** switch to the selected Mix and keep it selected.
- **Press and hold:** switch to the selected Mix temporarily, and automatically switch back to LR when the button is released.
This would make it much harder to accidentally adjust a monitor mix when you intended to adjust the main LR mix.
The **CH TO ALL MIX** button already demonstrates a similar momentary behaviour, so perhaps this could be implemented for the Mix buttons as an additional option.
This would be a small feature, but a very useful one for live operation!

Ive gotten in the habit of double quick pressing any mix button to get me back to LR. You can even do an input channels button to get back there.
Your request isnt unreasonable but I doubt it happens after all these years of the same behavior.

I am certain that most people who deny this are lying.
Even if they work with the console daily and the workflows have truly become second nature to them, they should still clearly remember their own early days.
A clearer indication and better handling of SOF mode - including your sensible suggestion - have been on the SQ wish list for years, with plenty of votes.
Yet, this simple modification didn’t even make it into the new SQ+ series.
A&H simply knows much better what is necessary and what is good enough for their customers …

As others have said… this is sensible. If A&H are serious about getting new users then this should be developed

Yep, we have all been there! We have an SQ desk - so it is largely across the range.
My solution is NOT to take your finger OFF the button until you have finished doing what you selected it for.

Having used QU and SQ desks in many varied situations, almost since the introduction of each range, I can agree that you never quite stop forgetting to return to main LR after altering an aux mix! It is something I have got used to, and learnt to spot my errors very quickly, but that is not ideal, and I agree with you that some form of momentary selection would be great.
