Novice User First Question!

Hi, I’m a musician who finds himself the lead on an AV install at our church here in Sussex, UK. We are using a local firm to install our new system which has a Qu 16 and digital stage box. I’ve played through PAs a million times but never had to run one so have a bunch of basic questions, many of which I’m sure the install company will help with. But, for starters - I’m trying to get ahead of myself on which channels will be assigned to what signal sources. We have two, possibly three stereo sources - do they go into the stereo ins and then get assigned to one channel / fader on the desk or does each stereo inout require two? I’m assuming it’s the former.

Correct. However, if you assign f.i. the left channel to a custom faderbank the right channel will follow in the background. Note that the parameters which you link between the 2 channels is important here !

Thanks. I’m going to have to research faderbanks!

One more thing: If you use stereo sources that are practically next to the console, you could of course also use the console’s three stereo inputs, for which you would then only need one fader each.

Fader banks are only three - two of them are fixed and only one is freely configurable.

Thanks. One stereo source will indeed be next to the mixer so that sounds a good solution.

Qu 16 is a great compact mixer, have one myself. Yes to using the ST1, 2, or 3 inputs.
Keep in mind (hopefully you know this) but even with a stage box you still have a total of 16 mic channels in any combination of local and stage box inputs.
That said you can when using a stage a box you can patch stage box input to a stereo input, but it sound like you will be using some of those.
