PAD to an input channel

Community,

Adding a PAD (-20dB) setting on an input channel in live situations may save your life (and a trip back and forth to the stage)

It is documented (p. 50 of the manual), but can’t be selected in the QU itself or in Mixpad.

Someone forgot to implement it (support case then) or am I looking beyond my finger on the picture?

You’ve essentially already posted the answer yourself (yellow).

It’s different when using inputs via SLink (red).

OK Clear - so in a scenario, where a performer is changing his instrument settings, during a production, and overloading the input, you can’t change this, IF the source is connected locally? Hmm.

In this particular case, I would have to grab an XLR-to-TRS cable and adjust its input gain level in total… in mid-production? In between songs? (not) OK.

Essential design flaw if you ask me. On all the analogue A&H mixers I worked with, there was a +48V and a PAD button on each channel.

I now wonder if it is indicated - let’s try this TRS input. Negative. Not indicated on the screen.
But you can (?) select it on a box connected through the SLink? And is it indicated in this config?

I want to get the correct info on the screen.

But it’s not uncommon for combo jacks to expect different levels for microphones (XLR) and line-signals (TRS).

Yes, you should generally determine during soundcheck whether you have a source that sends line-level signals and then use an adapter cable if necessary.

But you probably opted for a stripped-down QU for price reasons.?
The SQ, for example, has a pad button for each XLR input, but it doesn’t have combo jacks and costs significantly more.

With an SLink input, you will, of course, have a PAD button to switch the attenuation.

Makes perfect sense …
Thank you
