**Feature request: Persistent Mix Select indication**

Hi folks. Loving my qu5.

Quick request.

It would be useful if the currently selected output mix (LR, Mix 1, Mix 2, etc.) remained illuminated on the physical Mix Select buttons regardless of which processing or FX function is subsequently selected.

For example, if Mix 1 is selected, the Mix 1 button would remain illuminated while navigating PEQ, dynamics, FX sends or other processing. It would only stop being illuminated when another output mix or LR is deliberately selected.

This would provide a persistent visual indication of the mix currently being worked on and make it much harder to lose track of mix context when moving quickly around the desk during a live show.

The currently selected function could retain its existing illumination/indication independently, so the surface communicates both **“which mix am I working on?”** and **“what am I currently editing?”**

As far as I remember, the upper right corner shows the active mix target already.

You likely haven’t fully internalized the basic principle yet.

When you select a Mix or an FX using the buttons on the right, the faders simply turn into “Sends.”
It would be quite confusing and illogical if the last mix selected on the right - say, Mix 1 - remained illuminated while you were adjusting your FX 1, meaning the faders were controlling FX 1 rather than Mix 1.

Furthermore, adjusting processing settings for input- or mix-channels should not alter the mix currently selected on the right.
In this regard, the system actually already works exactly the way you want it to.

Or am I completely off track because I’ve misunderstood you …

No. I mean keep the relevant mix light illuminated no matter what you are doing. So when you select fx that ALSO lights up and the faders obviously become sends but you can still see which mix you are adjusting the sends for. If there’s only one light engaged it means the faders are controlling that mix. I’ve found myself adjusting the wrong sends for the wrong mix because I have no reference as to which mix I am in. As the user above said the mix might be available in the top right of the screen but keeping the mix light persistent would make adjusting the faders for the FX and other selections easier because both the mix light AND the FX light would be illuminated.

That is likely your misconception, because you aren’t actually adjusting the FX sends for your previously selected (Aux) Mix; you are mixing these into one of the 6 FX engines!
The actual mixing of these FX effects into one of the 13 mixes happens entirely independently and only after the FX engine via the FX Returns.
Therefore, when adjusting the FX Sends, only one of the 4 (+2) FX Mix buttons should be lit; conversely, when adjusting FX Returns for the mixes, only the corresponding Mix button should be lit.
Having both the FX Mix button and a Mix button lit simultaneously would, at least in my view, be illogical.

Ok I think I understand what you’re saying and where I’ve misunderstood it. Correct me if I’m wrong but you’re saying:

FX1/2 etc Is a GLOBAL setting

FX1/2 etc Return on the mix you are on will determine how much of the global FX is fed into that mix and you can adjust to taste?

if I’ve read you correctly then yes I was misunderstanding FX buttons being unique to each mix.

Let me describe it this way:
When the FX 1 – FX 4 buttons are activated, the input channel faders become send controls for FX units 1 – 4.
When the Mix 1 – Mix 12 buttons are activated, the input channel faders (as well as the FX returns, which always behave like input channels anyway) become send controls for mixes 1 – 12.
When none of the “16” mix buttons is activated, the input channel faders (and FX return faders) are “send controls” to the Main LR mix.

Note: You can even use 2 of the mixes (1 – 12) as FX sends if you happen to need more than 4 FX in the Mix-Return mode.
