On the CQ-20B, with no screen, buttons, etc- how can I plan for a potential failure of the onboard wifi module?
If the onboard wifi dies, I won’t be able to access the Config > Control & Network settings pages to change the settings.
Is there a way to force the mixer (maybe via the Reset button?) into a mode to use an external router, or a direct ethernet connection, without having access to the Config network settings.
And assuming we can figure that out, can I connect an iPad directly to the mixer with an ethernet adapter and cable? I don’t want to have to bring a laptop to gigs, but will have the iPad, and could also bring a spare wifi router just in case.
Thanks,
John
A few options here.
-
always use an external router/ap so the CQ is always using the LAN port. You can then plug in your control service to hardwired Ethernet or WiFi at your leisure without reconfiguring the CQ

the manual details the reset (button) procedure. The unit can have its networking reset without loosing the show files so that you can go into a wired mode without having access to the control surface.
The CQ can only use onboard wired or WiFi at a time and not both unless you use external WiFi device in which case the CQ is always using its wired port.
Yes, if you’ve got a working wired Ethernet port on the iPad then you should be able to use that to connect to the CQ
Thanks. I tried with 5ghz and it seemed to work better. First band practice with the new mixer is tomorrow, so we’ll see how it goes!
