Playback Qu Drive stereo recordings

Hallo from Germany,

I have a Problem with my new QU 16.
When I make a stereo recording via QU Drive I can not playback this recording via the QU16.
When I play my recordings I only hear strange noises and no real sound.
When I play this recorded wav-file in my Computer everything is ok.
Also the multitrack recordings are played properly on my QU16.
Do know any help??
Greetings
Klaus

Can you drop a couple of the multitrack files into the stereo directory to see if they work?

Can you duplicate the stereo files to a MTK directory, to see if they work as MTK?

Hi Bob,

thank you for your answer. I will try this tomorrow,
bye

Did you format the drive before use?
But its weird, though…

Hi Andreas,
yes, of course, I formatted it with the QU16.
And I tried several Sticks and HDDs

Did you select USB input on the channels 1 & 2? Just guessing.

Iirc USB playback comes in on ST3 for stereo files, but that’s a good shout.

sT3 is often fingered for interference when there is nothing plugged in and QuDrive is running.

Yes -ST3 Manual section 7.7 page 42.

So the source selection seems a likely culprit here because you won’t have anything plugged into ST3.

Hi to all,
thank you for your answers.
I will try all your suggestions tonight when I’m in the rehearsal room again.
But I don’t understand:
Stereo playback comes only with st3, correct?
I have to choose the usb input there, of course?
I think, that I did everthing right.
What about the plugging? What do you mean with that? There is nothing plugged in into ST3!!
I have already playbacked some songs from my HDD with the Qu-Drive. These songs were not recorded by myself. These were only wav-files from my computer. I heard them, no problem.
By the way, if you have a lot of songs in your playback folder, the QU16 does not recognise the HDD at all. That’s a problem, too.

I really love my QU16 but the playback section is really a problem.

I will check more facts tonight. (German time ;-))
bye

The ST3 jack is rather close to the USB port, and when QuDrive is in use there have been reports of noise being picked up by ST3 - effectively interference from the USB transfer activity to the ST3 analogue pickup.

If you have something plugged into the ST3 jack then this effectively moves the ST3 input point further from the USB port, and that can reduce/eliminate the interference - this shouldn’t be relevant in your case.

IF the ST3 source isn’t set to USB then this could explain the noise.
The Global USB source will also need to be QuDrive, not USB-B.

It’s also worth noting that there used to be a requirement for wav files to be 48KHz/24 bit - I’m pretty sure this has been relaxed in recent firmware versions - but check if you need/want a firmware update, and the precise format of the files as well.

I have the latest Firmware installed 1.6.
waiting wistfully for the 1.7!!
thanks, I will try everything

but it might be the global USB source, because we do USB B recordings with Cubase as well (no Problems with that)

But why is there a recording, which I can hear on my computer, without changing to the Qu-Drive as the global USB source??

Recording goes to both USB-B and QuDrive.

Playback USB source needs to be selected.

ok, maybe that’s the point.
I will try. Thanx a lot.
I will write my efforts.

Hi Bob,
yesterday I tried everything and now it works. It seemed to be the global USB-source. I don’t know. I started completely new and everything is ok. Thanx a lot!!
Do you know how many playback tracks I can have on my disk? Because I tried with 500 and the QU couldn’t read the disk at all.

Greeting Klaus

I think at that point I’d be looking to have a PC alongside for playback - I suspect the coding for the GUI list is limited to 100 (maybe actually 128) or 25 (256) - I can’t think of many places where a longer list would be navigable…

Ok, I will try with 50 and increase slowly ;-).
It would be great to have a lot of songs playing during the band break. It’s just for music in the Background and I don’t want to plug in an extra player or a PC.

500 * ~3mins… nice break between sets…

ok, that is too much.
But last time had 2 bands from 08:00 pm - 03.00 am.
With a lot of time before they started and a lot of time between the sets

That’s where I think an iPod (other mp3 players are available) come into their own - mostly 'cos someone else can provide it
