Plugging in TRS and XLR jacks for same input simultaneously

Hello,
Believe it or not, I’ve used up all 30 available inputs and I therefore need to share inputs sometimes. My keyboard is sometimes in my tracking room and sometimes in my control room. This results in a shared input situation. Is it possible to have the XLR and TRS jacks for the same input to be plugged in at the same time? I’d like to change the input via the Qu-32 menu options (TRS or XLR depending on where my keyboard is).

Thanks,
Nakul

I think the manual says not to do it. Get yourself a line input switcher.

@NakAttack

You could do that. But why not just unplug one and plug in the other one when you want that one?
Or like garyh said get a switching device to pick the one you want.

You cannot change between connectors on the menu, only select the channel itself.

I do not recall seeing anything in the alleged manual. Nor in the pdf user guide I downloaded.
It might work if only one device were on at a time. But I do not recommend doing it that way.
RTFM carefully to see if there is such a warning.

This is only a user manual diagram but what does this tell you?
You dont know the value of those resistors?
Really this is not the way to join signals.

@NZdave

True, but I thought he was only going to turn one on at a time.

There would be maybe 6 dB signal loss due to the Z of the other input if both were plugged in at the same time.
I doubt that he would damage a keyboard with both plugged in.

Still, I would not recommend doing it.
So far 3-0 votes against the idea of plugging both in.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I will manually switch the cables out when I need to. It’s a minor inconvenience but nothing more.
