POST FADER MIX IN MULTITRACK USB RECORDING

Hi!

I have the CQ20B, and I used up all the XLR aux outputs of the mixer for the IEMs of the 6 piece band that we have at our church. The audio needs to go to a livestream so I got the audio from the multitrack recording from the USB B output going into Ableton Live. From Ableton Live, the audio goes to OBS and is streamed. My problem is, this is a pre fader mix, and we only have one guy operating sound at a time so that’s not enough ears to mix both the house and the livestream at the same time.

Is there anyway to route the mix to a post fader one?

Thanks

I’m afraid it’s not possible to send the multichannel direct/record outputs post fader on the CQ.
The only workaround I can think of is overly technical and would require using Max4Live to adjust Ableton faders based on the NRPN messages coming from the CQ.
You would need to use the information here - https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/5402681764242-Controlling-Live-using-Max-for-Live (with support from Ableton if needed)
and here - https://www.allen-heath.com/content/uploads/2024/10/CQ_MIDI_Protocol_V1_2_0_iss4.pdf (which we can help with)

But really, you’re after something more than the CQ can provide itself and may be better with a Qu or SQ that can provide more mixes and pre/post direct outputs.

Thanks,
Keith.
