Powerline Adaptor

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone has tried one of these with the iLive (network only, not ACE obviously).

Seems a simple way of getting a wired connection from Mix Rack on stage to a PC at FoH without have to run a cable.

I would imagine the two power sockets used would have to be on the same phase for it to work which maybe an issue in larger venues.

Cheers,

Gary.

Yes, the phase/cable length issue might be a problem with larger venues. Even smaller ones like our church don’t guarantee adjacent sockets being on the same phase, nor even from the same distribution board.

I’d like to see it tried, but for venues like mine with CAT5 or better flood-wiring I’d rather trust simple passive cable (and even patchbay) links than having another device in the chain. Let us know how you get on…

Hi all,

It works, but…

  • don’t use any ups, before or after. Somehow the ups distortes the phase too much

  • use the belkin 1000 mb version, 200 mb is simply 100 mb send and 100 mb return, it’s a marketing trick…

  • run a straight power line from the one to the other, nothing else on the same line

  • the system is designed for households, so strobe lights and sudden powerdrops are a huge problem.

In short, fun while it lasts, but don’t use it in live situations.

And yes, ACE works also, sometimes, not really, there it is again, gone again…

My advice:

Spend the money on beer for the stagehands that run your cables!
