Qu Android app, anyone interested?

Any news here? Betatester needed? I’m looking forward for the Android app

+1 for eagerly waiting to get my hands on this app! Also willing to beta test with a cyanogen-modded Galaxy Note 12" and Qu-Pac.

Hello again,

It took some time but the app can now be beta tested.
Thanks again to Allen&Heath for supporting the development.

Requirements

  • Android device running Android 4.0 or newer
  • Qu Mixer with a minimum firmware version of 1.82
  • A wifi AP/router

Manual / Wiki
An online manual can be found here:
Getting started
Wiki
Note that these pages can be edited by anyone so feel free to add new content if you like.

Limitations
The app has some limitations:

  • Only one instance can be connected at a time to the mixer (this does not include iPads running QuPad)
  • Changing the dSnake input routing while the app is connected may bring the app out of sync. If you change the dSnake input routing it's currently recommended to reconnect the app to make sure the data is in sync. This will probably be fixed with the next firmware release.

How can I get the beta?
In order to download the beta you need to visit the activation link of the version you want to install:

Pro Version
Free Version

If you uninstall the app, you will automatically leave the beta group.
If you choose to participate in the beta for the professional version of the app, you must also buy the app from Google Play. You will be able to download the release version with the same license so you don’t need to pay again.

After visiting the link you should be able to install the app using the Google Play store.

Does it work on Kindle Fire tablets?
Yes it does. The app runs on every Kindle Fire tablet running FireOS >= 4.
Note that the beta test is currently not available for the Amazon app store. But the final version will be available there.

I found a bug! - I want feature xy

Id like a QU-You type of option in Android (just for artists to mix monitors)… If this can be pared down to not be too cumbersome for a typical artist to view, that would be great

There is already an Qu-You app available for Android:

Thanks David. I must borrow an Android machine to have a play. Looks as if there’s some useful stuff there.

Random question - any intent to permit operation with a fader bank, eg the BCF2000?

I’m guessing that USB OTG to the BCF would be possible - and that would make a rather nice physical remote…

Of course what I ought to do is work on a raspi version, so that the Pi can be modded into the BCF…

Yes that’s possible, but not yet in the Qu version of the app.
The XM32 version of Mixing Station is already compatible with any usb midi device. I will port this functionality sooner or later to the Qu version. But it requires quite a few code changes so I didn’t include it yet.

Just looked for the app, but could not find it on Google Play. It shows up for the X32, but not showing up for the QU.

You first need to click on the activation link. Only beta testers can see the app in the play store:

Yeah, I went straight to Google Play from my phone and couldn’t find it. When I went from the link after applying, it came up without a problem. Thanks! I look forward to playing with it to see how well it works.

You can install the app on android emulator for Windows to use on a pc ?
eq over the RTA can be very useful in a larger screen.

Yes that’s possible.
The free version will be available for direct download soon so it can be installed on devices / emulators without play store access.

Excuse my ignorance, I’m new to the non Apple tablet world!
I’ve just bought an Amazon Fire HD in a “Black Friday” sale but not having any success installing your app! I take it that it will be coming to the Amazon store too at some stage? Wasn’t able to get either version from the Google play links, even after signing up for the beta.
Have the Behringer version installed just to see what it was like;)
Quite a turnaround for me but I like the idea of controlling the desk on something that only cost £34.99!!!
You advice would be greatly appreciated:)

No problem
Yes the beta is currently for devices with Google Play access only as amazon still has no proper beta testing mechanism. But the release version will br available on Amazom as well.

Good Evening davidgiga1993 (10h45 PM in France…)

I haven’t yet acquired a Qu (certainly a Qu-Pac) but the fact of knowing that an application for Android make me happy

I have an ASUS 11.2-inch tablet that can especially connect aRJ-45 plug and I always have a nearby cable if WiFi does not work properly. As soon as I have my console, I subscribe to be a beta tester

Thanks a lot for you initiative and best regards,
François

Hi, it looks as though the excellent Android Mixing station QU and Mixing Station QU Pro are now available from the Google play store. I have been running it for a couple of weeks on a Amazon fire (side loaded) that I like robocurry picked up in the Black Friday deals, even on this it seems more responsive than the ipad app. Thanks davidgiga1993.

@davidgiga1993
Great job in developing the app!
I’ve just loaded the free version (don’t worry, paid one plus donation coming up when I update my card details with Amazon!)
Just wondering if the input/output metering are features of the paid app as they aren’t showing in the free version on the channel strips, mix outputs, LR etc.
Everything else seems to work, buttons, faders et al but no “feedback” from the inputs to the Amazon Fire I’m using.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks again for your hard work!

Sorted!
Bought the pro version and ticked “allow bus processing access” and all is working as expected. Sweet app, brilliant to have this alternative to my iPads!!

The input/output metering is also available in the free version.
When using the free version, are the meter bars visible at all or are they just not being updated?

Also the “allow bus processing access” setup button shouldn’t make any difference. It’s used for the XM32 version where the access can be restricted to a single bus. By enabling this option the user also gets access to the processing that bus.

Yes, it’s also available on amazon now:
