I am hired to do a recording in a clients space using their SQ5.
I’d like to build the scene for that recording on my SQ6.
Can anyone tell me if there are tricks or warnings that would allow this scene transfer to happen seamlessly.
Thanks.

No one know if a scene will transfer from an SQ6 to an SQ5?
D.
It will. just load it… Layer will of course be “shorter”.
Best Regards,
Tobias
I’ve also loaded shows - and therefore scenes - from the SQ-6 to the SQ-5 without any problems.
You can also simulate loading the SQ-6 scene in the MixPad app, which you simply set to SQ-5 (Offline).
If necessary, you can then modify your SQ-5 scene and save it as a “real” SQ-5 scene.
Hi there,
The channels aren’t lost - the faders just aren’t present on the surface as the SQ5 has fewer.
If you go to Setup → Surface you can move the faders around and get back the input channels that aren’t allocated to a fader.
Hi Mark
Thank you very much for your help.
It worked exactly the same way.
But now I can’t get the mute group out.
My colleague has probably set the mute group to a soft key on his SQ6, which I don’t have on the SQ5.
Can I also solve this problem?
Greetings Frank
Hi Frank,
Absolutely! On the routing page, you can see which channels are a member of which mute groups. If you identify which group is present and on, you can either remove the channel(s) from that mute group or reassign a softkey you do have to that mute group as well.
Alternatively, if you’ve got access to SQ Mixpad, that gives you access to all the softkeys even if you’re on a mixer that doesn’t have the physical buttons.
Hallo Mark,
