It would be really helpful, if it was possible to control channels that are not assigned to any fader strip.
I’m imagining something like selecting the channels through the “meters” screen, for example. Maybe even add another tab for DCAs.In combination with the possibility to mute the channel and change the fader-level from the touchscreen (maybe trough the “routing” tab) it would be a really powerful feature for cleaning up the console.
On the iLive, it’s possible to do this with the iLive Editor under the Inputs screen. All 64 inputs show up even if they’re not assigned to the surface. Is this possible with the GLD Editor?

Yes, it’s similar in the GLD Editor, but sometimes you don’t have the possibility to use an Editor.
The GLD editor is a copy of the surface, so no. The iLive editor gives you an overview of the whole system in which the surface layout is only one part of the picture.

GLD remote on the iPad can do exactly that for you…
IIRC you can assign a soft key to select any channel/mix, regardless of whether it’s assigned to the surface. Useful to get to processing, not sure about fader control though.
Touchscreen control of mute and fader on the input processing would make the Editor a lot nicer too, since those are about the only two controls that you can’t access in Editor for any strip not assigned to the surface (Processing touchscreen is available for any channel in Editor, not just those assigned to a strip).
One place where mutes and faders are available for all inputs, DCAs and mixes is the iPad app, which may not always be available but definitely has its uses.
If you select the main mix and go into the “Routing” tab you can control all fader levels from there.

As far as looking for a mute all function you can get this easily by creating a DCA group and assigning a softkey as a DCA Mute function.
If you are looking to mute sections of channels it is done the same way just assign certain channels to each DCA.
