Soft Key Momentary Mute (push-to-talk) Assignment

I am using an SQ5 and have a dedicated input channel configured as a production talkback microphone. I chose to use a regular input channel instead of the built-in Talkback function because my crew members use personal monitor mixes and need the ability to adjust the talkback level independently.

I would like to assign a SoftKey that behaves as a momentary push-to-talk switch for this channel:

• Press and hold SoftKey = channel unmuted
• Release SoftKey = channel muted

I know the dedicated Talkback function supports momentary operation, but I have not found a way to achieve the same behavior with a standard input channel mute.

Is there currently a way to configure a SoftKey for momentary channel mute/unmute operation?

If not, I would love to see this added in a future firmware update. I imagine it could be useful not only for production communications, but also for announcement mics, backstage communications, and other push-to-talk applications.

Thank you for any suggestions or feedback.

If you can get a group into the monitor mixers, you can assign the talkback output to a group.

Yes of course, but the question at hand is can you assign a soft key a momentary mute feature to be used in my case for talkback.

You just use the talkback key, and it sends to the group.
