Soft key mute FX(n) does not work on inserted FX

It appears to me that assigning a softkey to Function=Mute/Channel=FX1(2, 3 or 4), when that FX is in mode Inserted, the softkey does nothing. On the other hand, assigning a softkey to Function=Mute/Channel=All FX does work, regardless if FX is inserted (toggles IN/OUT :+1: ) or shared (toggles MUTE :+1: ). That is inconsistent so I think this could be thought of as a bug.

In my opinion: If FX1 is Inserted, Function=Mute/Channel=FX1 should toggle IN/OUT.

My real problem is that I want to turn on/off Inserted FX using MIDI. Because of the above it can’t be done. All failing options:

  • Sending MIDI to mute FX1 does nothing (as per described)
  • Sending MIDI to mute all FX does not exist (reason suggests this might have worked)
  • Sending MIDI to push a softkey that was assigned to mute all FX is the best option but does not allow absolute control, since every message is a new softkey push. Hence the sender must now current status of the softkey first.

Set a soft key to Mute ALL FX and it is OK.

Thanks! But see my own reply where I describe why that is only a poor workaround. Plus once you really only want to change say FX1 (not all) it is obviously not good enough.

You’re right, it is strange that Mute FX1 or FX2 does not work while Mute ALL FX is OK…
