Hey guys,
Doing some quick pricing on the software add-ons available for the SQ, and it adds up very quick! I’m looking at the compressors pack, Dynamic EQ, and the echo plug-ins, and I’m already up to nearly $600 USD. Seems a little pricey to upgrade an SQ-5.
Check out the price points with the Digico & D-live small consoles that both come with all of the bells and whistles, they offer very similar tactile hardware and identical FPGA processing only with bigger buss architecture that permits more than the SQs 48 I/O management. To fully understand the fact that a SQ5 is the absolute best quality/value desk ever offered consider the optional “purchase as you need it” bells and whistles menu is an integral custom assembly element of your console. Why pay for anything you do not need until you may need it. Bitchin about this advanced marketing protocol is flat out farting in the wind!

I mean this was know prior to purchasing the SQ (at least it should have been if any due diligence was done). At least A&H sells some combo packages (like the compressor set) so that you can save a little money. Perhaps it would be helpful for A&H to offer some larger packages with deeper discounts.
While A&H only sells “all” of the plugins together for the Avantis vs al la carte on the SQ series, it is still a $1600 option. Paying only $600 for what you need on the SQ could be considered a “bargain”!
