SQ 6 with 2-DX168 Issues

We have been using a SQ6 with 2-DX168 with no issues. This last week we had some good storms roll through, knocked out power and it was out a few days.

All the audio equipment is on surge protection. The DX168s were plugged in with a couple other devices, but now they are not registering in the i/o screen. The other devices plugged into the same protection work properly.

There is no status lights blinking at all on the side panel. The power lights on both do illuminate.

I have tried:

  • New power cord
  • New Ethernet cable
  • Unplugged it all and plugged back in
  • Removed it from the rack and plugged it into the board from closer range
  • Checked fuse

Any other suggestions to try? Or count it up to new hardware needed.

Thanks for any input!

I suspect it is a network port failure. It is not uncommon to pick up surges through cabling (like you network cable) when there is a nearby lightning strike. Typically surge protection doesn’t help in those situations because they often only protect the power cables.

After our church lost a lot of gear to a lightning strike (which we think worked its way through the network cabling), we now disconnect the console from both power and all ethernet connections (network, stage boxes, and Dante) after each use. It’s quick and helps ensure we won’t can’t lose our console to lightning again. (We don’t bother disconnecting the analog XLR connections however).
