Can i use an sq dante 64 x 64 to multi track record in logic proX all my tracks even when i use S link port in the mixer for getting all inputs to the mixer via AR2412 &AB168 D. Snakes… also i use pro presenter that i can get rest of the channels via a LAN to my computer… somebody please help me with a step by step method for the same and the things i need…
Things i have are
SQ 6 mixer, AR2412 & AB168 Stage racks, a computer with logic & another with a propresenter….
Yes but you will need to buy Dante virtual sound card software for your laptop and Dante controller. Connect the stage boxes to the SLink and then your laptop to the primary port on the Dante 64/64 card. then route the inputs from the stage box to the desk input channels, but then select the output matrix for the dante card. You then send the channels via the Dante card to the laptop. You need to use Dante controller to route the incoming Dante data to the laptop audio channels. You then need to select ASIO and the Dante card as the audio input source in Logic
beware SQ can only handle 48 Input Channels on the Desk itself. So you won’t get 64x64 that way (but you can get 48x48).
if you need more Inputs just for recording it should be possible to route the SLINK Inputs with tie lines to the Dante Outputs on the SQ. Tie Lines do not underly the 48 channel restriction as far as i know. You eventually need to set the preamps of the stagebox inputs you do not want on SQ Channels by temporarily routing them to a Desk Channel (one after another if necessary). They will keep preamp settings when unrouted.
Well, at the End you will also need a second SLINK Port for more than 48 Channels since AFAIK there is no 64 Input Stagebox and more than two 2412 or three 168 Stageboxes are not supported on a single SLINK Channel. So you would also need a SQ7 (that has two slots for extension cards so you can add a second SLINK Card) or a Dante Stagebox for that. With a Dante Stagebox on the same net as the Recorder you should not need Tie lines anyway since you could route those channels directly to the Recorder from the Dante Network.
If you really need the 64 Channel solution I would suggest to do that all via Dante. That even works even with a SQ5 or SQ Rack, you only need one Cat5 Cable to the Stageboxes and no SLINK Extention card, routing is more simple and flexible. The disadvantages are that Dante Inputs add a little more latency (3-5ms with Dante, 0,7ms with SLINK Inputs) and there is no Option to use cheap 48 kHz Stageboxes (which work with SLINK and are an absolutely reasonable Budget Option for smaller Live Gigs without very special recommendations for 96 kHz).
