Sq foh mon & dx hub

Question about DX Hub: Introduction: My scenario was easy: live show, 32 inputs, 2 SQ6 FOH and MON, MON as master desk, 32 inputs via S-Link, tie lines to FOH via secondary S-Link. New scenario: band arrives with guests and inputs become 42! I have one DX Hub and both the MON and FOH mixers have 2 S-Link ports on board. Obviously, the free port on the master desk allows me to tie line only 32 channels. So, question: is it possible to tie line the 42 inputs via DX Hub to FOH desk, in addition to the S-Link port that remains free on the monitor mixer? Even though I’m quite familiar with the world of various A&H protocols, I’ve never used DX Hub and I have doubts about this .. thanks for your help

In my opinion, whether you need a DX hub depends more on how you want to connect the 42 inputs to your master console - that is, which stage boxes you want/need to use, and whether you also can/want to use local inputs.
Perhaps you should explain that in a little more detail.

What do you mean?
Via SLink you could send up to 128 channels from console to console.

You can tie line 128 channels in groups of 32. Click the card again to move to the next page of 32

Better way to do this is Dante, then all consoles can talk to DT268s directly

S-Link can use 128 channels.

Take a look in the DX/GX Guide. It clarifies some things.

Each DX link provides 32 channels. But all are free patchable.

If you plug the DX Hub into one of the monitor console’s SLink port, it will switch to using the GigaAce protocol between the console and the DX hub. This is why it is possible to connect more DX stage boxes to the DX Hub than you can by connecting the boxes directly to the console. When the DX box is connected directly to the console it uses the DX protocol (limited to 32x32), but when you connect a DX Hub to the console it uses the GigaAce connection (128x128).

Therefore it seems like the easy solution is to use the DX Hub on stage, connected to the monitor desk. Connect all of your DX boxes to the DX Hub - it will support four boxes connected directly to the hub with four more boxes daisy chained off the first layer of stage boxes. That will allow you to connect up to 8 DX boxes to the monitor desk.

Then connect the monitor desk to the FOH desk through the other SLink port and you can route 128x128 between the Monitor console and FOH console - including any DX box’s I/O that are connected to either desk.
