SQ MixPad Requests for Parity

I would love to see:

Ability to name Layers Offline

Ability to assign SoftKeys to layers offline

Ability to reorder layers (swap A and B for instance)

Show Addon GUIs in channel insert instead of only at the FX returns

Most importantly to me: A mode where the iPad and board itself are always in the same state, like the control software for any other console. I realize the way it works makes it cool that each iPad can have its own layers, but sometimes, I want the board and the app to be exactly the same. I want to be able to create layers, and then when I save a show, those ARE the layers now.

SQ doesn’t let you name layers - so why would SQ-MixPad?

SQ doesn’t let you assign SoftKeys to a layer, so why would SQ-MixPad?

Not sure why you’d need to swap layers. Personally, I’d just happily use whatever layers I’d set up.

Both the sq and mixpad let you name layers. But on mixpad you can only do it online.

Here is a named Layer

You can add soft keys to layers as well

@pipelineaudio

When SQ-MixPad is online, you are working with either ‘Standard’ (all channels arranged by type) or ‘Custom’ (unique to that device/instance of the app).
When working offline, you are instead working with the desk/surface/hardware layers, so you can set them up in advance of loading the show onto a unit.

So some of your suggestions here make sense, but Alec is correct in pointing out the desk has no concept of layer naming - this is only possible for the app-only custom layers.
You also cannot add SoftKeys to a channel strip on the hardware, which is why you cannot add them to a desk layer when working offline.

To copy any of the desk layers to the app custom layers at any time, there is a ‘Copy Layer’ button in the Strip Assign screen when online.

Thanks,
Keith.
