Hi all,
I recently performed the 1.6 Firmware update to my SQ5.
I recorded a 7 piece band this past Friday, directly to an external drive, through SQ drive, 32 tracks.
The recording was successful, about 3.5hrs worth of recording.
However, when I went to transfer the files to my client, there was an “error” message on the transfer, telling me there was information on the Kick drum track that was causing an error.
Has anybody encountered this issue? Could it be the new firmware, or the fact that the Kick was hitting in the red from time to time on the preamp?
I recorded about 30-35 performances last year with the old firmware, and never had this issue
I’ve had problems with both recording and playback using USB since upgrading to 1.6.
A USB stick I have recorded on many times before without issue had errors, seen as jumping on playback, on the first recording since the upgrade. Also a hard disk I use to playback earlier recordings now will not work with a message saying it is too slow.
It would appear the change to allow simultaneous recording using SQL Drive and USB-B has affected this and placing a requirement for a faster hard disk drive for recording?
Thanks for the reply Davey,
Good to know!
Hi,
do you only experience problems when recording to “Stick”/Thumbdrive/SQ-Drive?
Or are there any problems when recording via USB B ->PC?
Hi Simon
Yes I only use a USB Stick or External Hard Disk to record. I’ve never used USB-B to record so don’t know if there are any problems with 1.6.

I have also had issues with the recorded tracks “skipping” or “jumping” on playback since v 1.6 came out. The prior firmware never gave me any problems, but I had 3-4 skips in playback in a 10 minute recording that I tracked solely for Virtual Soundcheck.
