Is the GX4816 the only option for a SINGLE I/O stagebox with 96 kHz operation?
I wish A&H would introduce a 32 input box along with the new QU.
Two DX boxes are bulky, and the options available seem convoluted.
Not being critical, just practical.

It’s a shame that the DX32 only has the 4 card slots for configuring.
If it had 6 slots that would be a minimum ideal. You could do the 32 inputs you wanted and have 16 outputs too.
But yes, it looks like that GX4816 seems to be your only option.
My guess is that A&H didn’t want people trying to stick 6 input or 6 output cards in it and complaining that it doesn’t work when the DX protocol only supports 32 inputs and 32 outputs. By limiting the cards to just 4, it is impossible to surpass the input or output count limits of the DX protocol regardless of which cards are inserted.
But I agree a larger DX box would be nice!
The stagerack offering lacks structure and if you want matching I/O it’s either two bulky or the channel count on the GX is higher and slots unused.
The flip side of that is by using smaller stage boxes that are placed closer to the sources being plugged into them, you can likely reduce your wiring runs and clutter vs using a single centralized stage box. For example, having a stage box on the drum riser and another box on each side of the stage can make setup/tear down up much easier.
Long story short, there are pros and cons to each solution and luckily with as many options as A&H has, we are free to choose the one that works best for our situation.
I certainly can see that as well.
It just makes it more of a process for a buyer to consider all options, and frankly they could do better with SKU count and practicality. Even at the mid to higher price points, other manufacturers have minimal stage box offerings.
Matching 32 or 48 channels of I/O to the QU-5 costs more than the console.
Is there anything other digital snake, we can use with Qu Series, I have a Qu-7 myself and looking for a good option. Assuming we cannot use any 3rd party DSnakes? I am not needing an extensive input and output option. Up to 12 Inputs should be suffient for me
Is it what you mean when you select “QU I/O” under this link?
Would you say the new Qu series needs 96 kHz to sound the best for the potential, not sure if anyone has tried the 48 kHz version and if there is any substantial difference on how it sounds compared to the 96kHz
It’s more a “matter of belief” - just browse this forum - and I’d say personally: Both sound great! )
Of course, you will also find people who hear significant sound differences - at least during the required A/B comparison under ideal conditions (… and especially when they know which box is currently in use).
Now let the stoning begin. ))
I just want a 96K 32x16 stage box. Pretty standard IMHO.
A rack mountable 32 in by 20 out would be better still for the new Qu but that might be too specific to sell well.
You mean like a Qu-5 connected to the AB168 as an example? That’s what I’m running at church. Sounds fine. Could the 96 k variants be better, likely.
