Having subgroups with processing would add so many advantages. The specs are so good on the CQ20b are great and blows everything away in the price range, but still need to add some features and GUI changes. Look at the Mackie DL series layout.
I’ve been using a Soundcraft UI24R for ages and one of the features I always use is subgroups (with processing). It allows me to make FOH adjustments without impacting monitors. This would be a great addition for the CQ20B.
Subgroups it’s really the thing I missed on this console, after it will be really awesome
They said multiple times that CQ doesn’t have spare processing power to have more mixes (busses, groups etc).
Having the aux busses be flexible dual-purpose as an aux or subgroup would stay within the processing power limit.
The things I use the desk for don’t need 6 auxes, but 4 auxes and 2 subgroups would be perfect as I would have the full subgroup eq to use on the groups. (I could even use the FBA on something like a subgroup of lav mics or lectern mics. It’s a useless feature to me otherwise,)
This is a great idea! I don’t have much use of 6 auxes either, but every one of those 18 inputs is valuable. While it’s possible to create a subgroup by hard-wiring an aux to an input, I lose both an output and an input by doing so.
Yes, agree on the mic/group processing. I don’t need the FBA on the Main LR.
