Subwoofers for CQ18

I can’t figure out how to connect my subwoofers to the CQ18 where their volume moves with the master volume. A sub auxiliary seems to have to be adjusted every time a master fader moves. Is there a solution apart from an external processor?

Generally, with mixing boards that don’t have VCA/DCA, you always leave the master for the mains and the master auxiliary send for the subs at unity. Control your levels with the regular channel faders. If you must change the main mix level, then you have to adjust the aux master proportionally. I tend to run my main and aux masters at unity regardless of the mixing board anyway. If I need to make level changes on the main and subs, I do it at the processing rather than the mixer when possible.

Understood. Thanks Cameron!

well, the CQ has DCA’s, but maybe in the absence of a matrix (like the SQ has), you can consider having an Aux on Post fader…

That’s what I’m thinking now…with a DCA controlling the Main and Aux together.

another way is to just leave the Main and post-fade aux sends up at 0dB (for example), and control the channel/DCA - this is actually how we did it when we ran out of matrices on the old 1.5.x firmware version of the SQ
